On 10th December 1914, the 1st East Surrey battalion of 14 Brigade, 5th Division, moved into the line at Wulverghem, just south of the Ypres salient. On 13th December, the day on which Charles Entwisle was killed, their positions were shelled at intervals throughout the day resulting in 4 casualties for the battalion. |
